Christian Pignol

Visual artist specialising in contemporary realism

Hello!

I am Christian Pignol, a visual artist with a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (1997). Throughout nearly 30 years of career I have focused my artistic research on the language of contemporary realism, always seeking a personal and contemporary vision of painting.

My work has been recognised in prestigious competitions, having recently been a finalist in the Mod Portrait 2025 contest. I have also had a presence at the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona, participating in various official selections of the Figurative Arts Competition since 2015, and in international group exhibitions. Particularly notable is my participation in the Paris Art Fair (ART 3F) with Galería Michel Menéndez in 2025.

Career, Essence and Artistic Vision

1. Career and artistic training

I have developed much of my career in Madrid and Barcelona, working closely with Galería Castello 120 for nearly a decade, as well as with Galería Santiago Echeberría, dedicated to “realism and urban perspectives”. From my earliest exhibitions in spaces such as Fundación Mapfre, Galería Astarte and Galería Margarita Summers, to my more recent collaborations with Sala Nonell (Barcelona) and Galería Jorge Alcolea (Madrid), my purpose has always been to explore the essence of contemporary realism with a personal and emotional approach.

2. Essence and artistic purpose

As a visual artist, I believe in the power of images. In this world, an image is something very powerful, and we are continuously surrounded by them. The painter has the responsibility of deciding what message they want to send with the image they have chosen. Painting, like any other means of expression, is an opportunity to offer the world the finest thoughts that inhabit the artist’s mind.

3. Philosophy and creative vision

My desire is always to reflect the best of myself in my paintings, in order to connect with the best in all those who contemplate them. One cannot see beauty if it is not within oneself, and one cannot give it if one has not found it. This was Michelangelo’s idea when he claimed that the perfect sculpture was already made and that one simply had to find it. The best of ourselves awaits our willingness to choose it, so that we may extend it to the world and share it with others.
